Newcastle has had some great inventors and here are some facts!
Andrews Liver Salts got their name from St. Andrews church nearby as well as their office. Mr. Scott and a friend Mr. Turner tried to find a remedy for indigestion and they developed liver salts. Turner went on to develop Milk of Magnesia. They also discovered Delrosa rose hip syrup and kids were paid collect the hips at 3d per pound where they were processed at Wallsend and Newcastle. The firm was known as Phillips, Scott and Turner which went on to become Sterling Health. Amazing place Newcastle ! Not forgetting Ringtons Tea who developed Earl Grey and of course another great invention, Lucozade previously known as Glucozade !
