I agree it's sad our famous Shipbuilding past is being forgotten.Our local authority doesn't seem interested in our local history.
Another example is that there is absolutely nothing to show Hebburn and Jarrow had coal mines.
Not even a plaque showing where they were.
The Davy Lamp that saved thousands of lives in coal mines all over the world where coal was mined was invented because a local Vicar pleaded with Sir Humphrey Davy to produce a safe lamp that would not cause killer explosions which he did and tested it here in Hebburn.
Maybe our new REFORM Councillors will do something about these 2 examples. Fingers crossed
