If Carr Street was the main shopping street for the Quay and Tennant Street was the shopping street for the Newtown area, was there one that served the Colliery area? Sometimes I think it sounds like Hebburn was almost like three little sub-villages back in the day. It makes sense that people would have stayed really local for shopping with fewer cars and buses etc. on the roads.
