Should we be prepared for Palestinian refugees from Gaza.

A Judge has granted a Palestinian family from Gaza with six children to settle in the Uk, again quoting their human rights, using a scheme that was originally for Ukrainian refugees. The family have lost their home in Gaza . The article says, we must be prepared for many more. We can’t accommodate all or Gaza, but I assume it will be the start of more families applying to live here.

It has been said that under Article 8 of the Human Rights Bill ( thanks to Tony Blair) they have a right to family life, that’s fine but why does it have to be in the UK, don’t we, the UK tax payer, have a right to a family life as well? If, as mentioned, this could open the flood gates to Palestinians, many will probably be Hamas supporters, flooding into the country, they probably don’t speak English, will have extended families, who will all be needing houses, financial support etc, where will all of this end?

Liz , you are so right. I think there is a good chance they will be Hamas supporters or worse. Someone said a while ago wherever they settle they start trouble. When Tony Blair signed us into the Human Rights Bill, he also said there were to many white faces in this country, well I’m sure he can’t say that now. He always claims it’s the thing he is most proud of. It seems the unelected Judges are running this country.

Most Palestinians do not support Hamas, they use the people as human shields. Fire are willing to take refugees amongst other countries. Bottom line is that Israel want the land regardless of whether they are entitled to it or not and people like Trump are quite happy to help facilitate this. Those sort of actions will escalate the violence and other countries will end up being involved. Don't blame the refugees blame the aggressors on both
sides.

I don't believe that most palestinians support hamas - - they just can't get them out of power the same as us with starmer

Sorry Brian but I do blame the Palestinians for all the problems, They have been kicked out of every Country they have tried to settle in and, will do the same in this Country if allowed to Migrate here

No doubt you know much more about the Palestinian people than I do John but after the murder of over 47000 of them by Israel you have to have some sympathy towards them

Colin. The whole thing is because of Hamas. Normal people have no say but have to suffer because of that lot.

I cannot blame the Israeli people. Hamas started it last year, what did they expect, sacrifice their own people because of that and attack. Hamas knew what would happen and still attacked.

What have Hamas gained? The normal citizens of Gaza now living in HELL.

It could well start up again after next Saturday ( it was only going to be a question of time anyway, next month or year)

Of course who are Hamas, are they just tools of others!

I am sorry for ordinary Palestinians just used as cannon fodder.

This family were granted asylum last year I am surprised we didn't know back then. It actually happened before the change in government. You have to wonder why it's come to our attention now.

Apparently the Judge who passed this ruling is a known Palestinian sympathiser, it’s about time the Judiciary in this country put our country first and not other countries/ peoples needs before our own.

Resentment in the UK is starting to boil over, normal people are thoroughly fed up with everything, I just wonder how much longer it will be before the pot boils over, successive governments have themselves to blame, no wonder support for Reform is on the up, hopefully the message, from the British people, might start to penetrate to the elected MPs who are supposed to look after our interest and not the rest of the Worlds interests.

Liz, the judges are a joke and they are supposed to be neutral. Did you see the poor hostage released by the Palestinians the other day. He was unrecognisable to his in laws. They slaughtered his wife and two daughters. He looked as though he had been in a Nazi concentration camp. They are disgusting people and some are happy for them to be here.

Brian, I don’t suppose we were meant to know, obviously some whistleblowers found out so the government had no choice. I can only guess it was kept quiet because the politicians know most people are fed up with legal and illegal immigrants. House building in every town and village,. No appointments with doctors, no places at schools. I feel for the young in future.

Very true. People opened their homes to many Ukrainians, but they only thought it would last a few months or 12 months at the most Even the kindest people must be a little fed up, it has lasted so long.

Whenever we have opened our doors to so called refugees from war zones very few of them ever return to their own countries, how many returned to Kosovo, how many Syrians are planning to return to Syria, how many Ukrainians will want to return to Ukraine, if, as predicted, the doors will be opened to Palestinians how many will ever return - answers on a post card please?

When Yugoslavia split Bosnian and Croatian refugees came to Newcastle they put them everywhere, I was chair of governors at a school who got children from both sides and had parents coming in and telling the staff not to put Bosnian children in the same class as their children and vice versa. I called all the Bosnian and Croatian parents to a meeting and were told in no uncertain terms to stop harassing staff, to leave children at the gate, do not come onto school grounds without appointment and finally I told them if they didn't like it they were free to find another school. We layed down the rules, they whinged and tried to involve refugee support workers who were also sent on their way. I brought in education officers from the civic centre to witness the meetings.
As our primary task was the education and care on the school premises of children and staff wee were
backed by the city council . We had no further problems. Some eventually returned to their respective countries but a lot like you said stayed here.0

Funny you should mention how the parents wanted their children educated, well done you Brian for standing your ground, when in Rome and all that. As it happens I was watching a programme earlier today where that situation is still operational in certain places in that part of the world, they showed a school where Muslim children and Orthodox children are educated in the same school but, the school is split into 2, even now after all of the time since the war these people just can’t get along!!!

It’s about time we insisted on integration otherwise problems will always exist - Brian maybe you should be an envoy go and sort out these issues!!

Liz as we were quite near to Newcastle University we had a number of pupils whose parents were overseas students. At one time we had 36 different first languages, it was impossible to have interpreters for every language so we didn't have any but buddied up children who spoke same language, it worked very well and children learn much faster adults so we had children often speaking English fluently in under two terms. You learn to adapt and be flexible in working practices to get the results that benefited everyone. We ended up with an outstanding rating from Ofsted so we must have been doing something right.

Malcom the idea came from a teacher who had taught English overseas, the staff and governing body just tweaked it and reviewed it every couple of weeks to see if any changes were required.

Brian, when the Polish arrived, all their children were at the Catholic Primary School. Sadly the Polish children would only play with polish children, even the Polish Mums would not engage with the other parents. It was just left as the headmistress of the school at the time , just wanted the Polish to be happy. Of course that was many years ago.

Brian, sad but true. I was surprised , as a lot of Polish men settled here after WW2. I worked with a lady whose husband was Polish. After the fall of the Soviet Union, he was able to go back and meet relatives. He used to meet fellow Polish men at Reading, once a month, I think it was a Catholic church organisation.

Newcastle still has a Polish social club although they are more relaxed about membership criteria nowadays. Newcastle still has a sizeable Polish population.

When we lived in Buckinghamshire I used to drive into work in central depending on the route used I had to pass the Polish War Memorial.

I remember my Mum always speaking well of them and how they had fought on our side in WW2. We had a Polish Doctor, attached to Dr Phillips surgery. Doctor Gaulle.

I’m sure it was Liz. It is an u usual name. Perhaps he opened a second practice in Bill Quay. When we first register with out Doctor, they had a place in a nearby village and doctors from our surgery would see people there, twice week, but it closed many years ago. They now have to visit the main surgery.
