Just read that the RNLI are complaining about the reduction in donations they are receiving, well if they stopped providing a free taxi service for illegals things may improve, I for one have stopped donating , that is not what the RNLI is intended for !

Totally agree Mac.
Some years ago the RNLI donated £millions for projects abroad including purchasing Burkinis for girls in Zanzibar. That's probably one reason people are wary about donating.

I spent 10 years of my life with the enterprise branch of the RNLI at Hartlepool before moving to Liverpool where I resigned from it all. My reason? Immigrants.Also, I am not shocked at the lack of funding because a year ago, I sent a letter to the head office in Poole,Dorset, saying that this would happen. The top brass in the RNLI get a fat wage. I will not disclose how much but it disgusts me when I know what the crew risk life and limb for. I have seen the worst of what crews have to deal with, yet there are people sitting on their fat backsides in warm offices getting paid . I rest my case as I will never agree with the the taxi service. Let me say that the crews are highly trained at Poole before being accepted and it is commando style. However they say they are there to save lives and that is why they joined the RNLI. However, I agree with you all abut me anger is with Starmer for letting them down......

Ok the RNLI chairman gets £175,000 pa , nearly £3,400 per week. The newest lifeboat is the Shannon. It works on water jets instead of propellors and some crews hate it as it is a high speed floating computer. The steering is a joy stick. Very complex but not as good as the Trent. So, a lot of folk have died collecting money to help for it only to be wasted. Disgusting.....

The crews do a wonderful job saving life’s in what is often dangerous conditions, however they are obviously being instructed by desk warriors to provide a taxi service to illegals, so annoying and not what most people expect from the RNLI.

The management of the RNLI have really shot themselves in the foot by providing a taxi service for Illegals. They probably started with the best intentions of saving lives but instead provided a transport service. This should be stopped or taken to Court for aiding and abetting Illegally fetching people without passports into the Country

Where dover/ramsgate are concerned the government must be supplying the diesel for the boats. The RNLI couldnt do that many trips out to sea and that frequency. When we had the Tories in the border force vessels didnt regularly patrol the areas. Starmer met with Macron September 24 and after this both Border force vessels and the spotter plane were out everyday. Yes you could say its for safety so lives are not lost , but why do the french navy follow the small boats not intercept and wait for border force to pick the illegal immigrants up and in french waters as well.

Dead right Neil. When I was with the Hartlepool Enterprise team we used to ask doners to make cheques out to the station and not the office. A lot of our money came from old ladies, quite often standing in pouring rain or inside the foyer of supermarkets freezing to death. We had our own bank account so only the station got what we collected. We found the RNLI goods were too dear. I am glad I left but still remember things like Pride of Britain when the crew waded into quicksand to save a young lad up to his neck nearly.. The fire service blasted the sand away from their feet, saving all 2013 I think? Great men but let down badly by greed and a horrible Prime Minister...
