I grew up in northern NJ. Lots of highways, lots of commercial establishments - lots of billboards. Hated them - such an eyesore, the entire lot of them.

Now live upstate NY - I am literally between the best of both words. A right hand turn out of my little community takes me to eateries, shopping galore, fun stuff to do. A left hand turn takes me to camping, hiking trails, lakes, parks, a bike path. . . both worlds are literally within a short drive from my home.

I think I've only seen 4 billboards (3 are small as billboards go) while driving all around the Adirondacks and around the outskirts. The Adirondack Park is huge, about 6 million acres.

Kudos to you that you refused to permit a billboard sign. They really do wreck the scenery.
