I've had 3 different times in the last couple of days where I didn't get the right amount of change when I bought something. They are doing this to eliminate using pennies.

The first 2, I got shorted a couple of cents, but yesterday, instead of getting $1.59 in change, I got $1.60. It says so on the receipt.


How does this work when you pay? If someone wants $5.01, can you just hand them $5?
