Good point about hand gestures. Some that most Westerners take for granted are not necessarily okay to use in Japan. Pointing (with the index finger only) at someone, for example. The Japanese way of indicating a person (or even at least some objects) is to use an open hand gesture. Pointing with the index finger is considered rude.
