Could there be evidence for God?

The metaphor for life. Because without light our life is not possible. I think Genesis got it right.

In reality, supported by VAST amounts of physical evidence, the Universe is over 13 billion years old, the Earth is over 4 billion years old, life has evolved from unicellular organisms into the hyper-complex anastomizing web that exists today as illustrated here:

Sadly dissing the Bible facts...which you say you studied and have read...you may as well have added "disregarded".. you nullify one part, why would you believe any of the rest of it? For convenience's sake?

with dictionaries, commentaries, etc.

It has numerous inconsistencies which blur the story. Plus, it contradicts VAST amounts of physical evidence.

My interpretation of the Genesis origin story is that it is Israelite Mythology. It has been handed down over many generations. It is VERY OLD, likely prior to 1500 BCE.

It is not until the birth of Abraham that the Book of Genesis begins a historical narrative.

Also, there is the issue of miracles, which was disposed of once and for all by David Hume in
An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding:
When anyone tells me, that he saw a dead man restored to life, I immediately consider with myself, whether it be more probable, that this person should either deceive or be deceived, or that the fact, which he relates, should really have happened.... If the falsehood of his testimony would be more miraculous, than the event which he relates; then, and not till then, can he pretend [modern English: claim] to command my belief or opinion.

Outside of miracles, I consider the Hebrew Bible to be fairly accurate in its rendition of historical events.

Abraham, in the Old Testament, is often regarded as someone who deeply knew and trusted God.
Genesis 12, where God instructs him to leave his homeland and promises to make him the father of a great nation?

Abraham's relationship with God is marked by faith and obedience, he followed God's commands, even when they were challenging or mysterious.

Abraham's journey is the covenant God establishes with him, promising descendants as numerous as the stars and a special relationship with his lineage.

Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son Isaac, as described in Genesis 22, further demonstrates his trust in God's plan, even in the face of immense personal sacrifice.

Through these experiences, Abraham's story reflects a deep connection and understanding of God, rooted in faith and trust.

Did you just skim over those parts? Or just adopt the ones that made you feel special?

I read his death was notable for his calm acceptance of mortality, reflecting on his skepticism about religion and the afterlife with his friends.

That's not the end of it all David.

It's surprising to me to find such a lack of curiosity. Believing and selling to others such a wasteful lie with such a dismissal of the possibility, because they may be eloquent or intelligent. That's how the "devil" works. But of course, he isn't real either...and evil...well, it's someone else's problem. Because we're all good inside and out. And perhaps even better than others.

His argument is conclusive and cannot be contradicted.

That is to say, I think there can be observable phenomena leading to inductive argument supporting belief in the existence of God. However, reversing the logic to construct a deductive argument suggesting that God is required in order to product those phenomena fails in the face of possible alternative explanations. One is left without the ability to fulfil knowledge conditions for a conclusion for or against God's existence.

This is one (but not the only) reason I have come to consider the proposition "God exists" to be unfalsifiable for most generally-accepted definitions of "God."

That's a considerable variable many miss, don't, or won't act on.

Faith can't measure individual values either, however we all have them.

And all things of which are inherently subjective and resist traditional measurement take faith, right?

Not all roads are taken.. just usually ones other's have their convictions about, trying it for oneself is the only real and true measure, imho.

And what could possibly go wrong, that He is really there for us and true?

I've done my best to make an objective investigation of Judeo-Christianity (and to be a bit of a braggart, my best at objective analysis is pretty good). But I've not asked such a question because I've never held a belief in the existence of God or in Jesus of Nazareth as anything other than a human being.

Be happy to lay some out for you if you're seriously going to try.

In the O.T. most were chosen to experience that kid of relationship...

But in the New Testament, anyone can.

P.S. these are still new testament times we are living in, so .. it's on you. He's already given us all a connection, and that would be His Son Jesus.

The verse I'm referring to is from the Bible, specifically Revelation 3:20 (King James Version):

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."

These words are spoken by Jesus Christ in a letter to the church of Laodicea, as conveyed through the Apostle John in the book of Revelation. It's about Jesus offering a personal relationship to those who are willing to open their hearts to Him.

Oryou can pray..not sure I've seen you talk about that form of connection/communication/conversation... but I'm certain you've at least heard of it.
