Yeah, as others have said, it's been the men lagging for decades.
Since the Sampras/Agassi/Fish run, that we had 6 americans across the two genders in the round of 16. It's happened everywhere else, but clay has continued to be our nemesis. Over the last couple of years, we've seen more of the young guys embrace the idea that they have to play on red clay for longer periods of time. We rely entirely on green clay in the US, which is like playing on cat litter, has nowhere near the same bounce or slideability. And then wonder why we don't get the same results. Luckily, we've had women up at the top of the game continuously. Men got held up on BIG SERVE BIG FOREHAND with no ability to actually construct points.
