It really sucks, too because she just wants to continue vaulting.
We're at a place where a scholarship would be nice, but I can afford for her to be a walk on, and it sounds like even that's going to be limited. Previous Message Previous Message My daughter had a friend from her HS who also went to ISU. This friend is a women's pole vaulter. I don't know the exact situation now, but I recall my daughter relaying a similar story that her friend told her - that there were ~5 women's pole vaulters (I think receiving some bit of a scholarship), but that was going to be cut to 2 for the Spring 2025 season. Anymore who stayed would be considered walk-ons. (Again, I may not have that fully correct, but that was what I recall the general situation.) Also, this: https://eiupanthers.com/news/2025/5/12/general-eiu-discontinues-mens-womens-tennis.aspx Previous Message Nobody really knows how it's going to play out, but the conversation is about some of the smaller women's squads are really going to be hurting. My daughter was getting some looks for pole vault, and while she's not at recruit standards for most of the D1 schools she's interested in, she's been getting "come try out/maybe walkon" notes. Most of that seems to be drying up (although she's still getting recruited by D2/3, it's also slowed down). I'm curious if that changes over the next couple months. None of the coaches were sure, with some even cutting their rosters down before this past season. Unless you're a multi-event athlete, you aren't very attractive to them. Previous Message
