I’m a bit surprised they weren’t able to find a European club for him. Obviously was a disappointment for Liverpool given what they paid, but he showed a lot of flashes and wasn’t a total flop. Wasteful of chances for sure, but he partially offset that by creating a lot of chances. I guess he just wasn’t quite good enough to entice the teams high enough in the pecking order to afford $50M.

No idea what will happen with Isak, but as I said before that’s far less important to the team than shoring up the central defense. Maybe it’s a bias in reporting towards “exciting” signings, but it’s strange and worrying to me that most of the reports about transfer targets continue to be around attackers rather than the massive and glaring defensive needs.

And on a cynical note, I’m already done with the over the top Jota stuff. Yeah, it’s sad for his family, but the way people are acting it’s like he was a club legend who died saving a thousand orphans from a burning building. He was a perfectly solid rotation guy who crashed his sports car.
