Correct. First, now current players can transfer freely. Second, even before, the current players
and coaches were reaping the benefits of the cheating by playing for teams that had more fan support, etc. for better facilities, etc. That excuse has always been bullshit and is more bullshit now. Previous Message These kinds of punishments are not going to be a deterrent for anyone. There need to be actual consequences that cause pain for your program in the future. Even taking titles away in name doesn’t mean that much. In the unlimited transfer era, players can leave instantly if the school gets hit with sanctions. They aren’t stuck there. If it’s actually a serious offense, you need to be giving out postseason bans. Of course that assumes that they’re interested in actually punishing schools like Michigan. Previous Message ...those are the ones that caught my eye more than the show cause nonsense... plus just the pure monetary hit. A 25% reduction in football official visits during the 2025-26 season. A 14-week prohibition on recruiting communications in the football program during the probation period.
