I had not been there in 20 years. Last time i was there I had a much different experience (and part of my life). People didn't go out to dinner until 11pm and didn't get up and going the next day until 10am at earliest. I remember 20 years ago, we left the night club at 6:30am, the sun was up, and there was still a huge line to get in.
Now, i went to dinner at 9:00pm and was one of the last ones to sit down. i thought it was me but then I started chatting up a bartender and he gave me the lowdown as i sat at the bar eating alone.
He said the locals and government got sick of all the tourists, folks coming off cruise ships, etc. Per him, the laws started changing in the mid 2010s that started eliminating the nocturnal lifestyle slowly but surely and then COVID officially killed it.
The only place that culture still thrives is Madrid, per him, which I can confirm as I was there two years ago and it was lively late late into the night. Previous Message
It’s a bold strategy, Cotton, let’s see how it works for them.
