I’ve been thinking about that possibility
My wife will hopefully be getting an Italian passport next year, which would make it a lot easier. The big downside would be being so far from family and friends. That might keep us from moving there full time. But if we can swing it financially, I could see us getting a little 2BR place in Italy or Iberia and spending winters over there, using it as a base to travel around. European demographics are bad enough that I’d bet property prices outside the bigger metro areas or big tourist spots are probably reasonable. Just find a smaller town with character (which is most places in Europe) that’s on a train line, and I could be happy. Previous Message I’m exploring the possibility of spending my retirement years in Europe; ideally in some 2BR shack near a village center in the Alps, 3,000’ or higher in elevation. But may settle for Innsbruck. I’m still at least 6 years away from that. Previous Message Will never forget how surreal it felt to emerge from train from the airport into the city center. I was 25, not very well traveled. Was instantly hooked Previous Message If no, I think London (and trips into England proper) is a great first trip. You get the castles, but there is no language barrier. If you want stunning beauty with Cinderella castles, go to Germany as discussed below.
