for the most part arena design has gotten more formulaic than football... I know Intuit Dome got some press, part of that is if you're in a large metro you can have the luxury of building a venue more specifically for basketball... but most NBA/NHL arenas are pretty standard in design, just with exterior architecture varying.
It seems like football is kinda veering towards the same thing
