I think you could do the foot thing.
Just compare feet and forget about the rest of the body. Or hips. If we’re gonna use VAR, I’ve always said they should use some margin of error. We’re comparing a strike of the ball to leaning shoulders to a guy’s big toe. Smash a “think that’s right” button when you think you’ve got the lines right and then have the lines expand a couple inches in both directions. If the player is then onside, then he’s onside. My biggest issue with the rule now is the false precision through VAR. The basic principles of offside are fine.
