I was afraid that with the money tied up in Imanaga they’d pay out the rest to Gallen and that would be their big moves.
But now with the addition of Cabrera, who has upside, and Bregman I feel much more comfortable adding Gallen.
I think it’s clear the Cubs will jump at least the first threshold of the CBT. I speculated this from how aggressively they were adding bullpen arms. Seemed like the tell.
They need more pitching and right now there aren’t great options unless they can swing a trade. Valdez is out there but I really am not a fan of adding him. Suarez and Cease were my top two and while it seems they were interested in Cease and Imai to the end it’s a bit odd to me they kind of had no interest in Suarez.
Anyways Gallen feels like the most realistic option right now. And breaking it down it seems like the last couple months he was actually decent while changing his pitch mix so maybe there is something to work with there.
