This is where I am

It’s going to cause massive disruptions and, most likely, the destruction of a huge quantity of jobs that are way better than the factory jobs whose loss destroyed the country’s political culture. All this happening under the least competent administration in history, and one that doesn’t care even the tiniest bit about the well being of anyone who isn’t a billionaire. There’s a utopian possible future, but I don’t see any plausible path from where we are to there. More likely it just extends the permanent underclass to include 80-90% of the population, because the only jobs that will exist will be nail salon technician and other in person work that is too low margin to be worth automating.
Previous Message will do. No one has any idea what that will look like, but it's definitely coming. Previous Message effective might be able to replace you in a few years. But that somebody can just be you. This has always been the case with new tools, though. Previous Message I think there’s real truth strewn throughout his missives. It scares the shit out of me. I’m worried about my career. My wife’s. And above all, our kids. I try not to be a Luddite about it. But the speed and unpredictability and downright black box nature jar me. That tech always outpaces governance bothers me. That we’re a deeply divided global society with weak institutions and few social cleavages terrifies me. It simply makes me uncomfortable in a way the internet’s emergence never did. Previous Message Twitter link
