Union Army officer named after his uncle killed at Gettysburg. Leaves his family farm in upstate Pennsylvania. Follows the railroads west to Colorado where he's part of the end of the late 19th century Wild Wild West, becomes an electrician, runs small town general stores, settles in a small town in northern Colorado where the streets STILL aren't paved and homesteads land we still own, but lives to see space travel and nearly long enough for us to land on the moon. He went from horse and buggy to space travel in a lifetime. That's nuts.
