Previous Message the thesis is that the inventions that occurred between 1870-1970 were truly revolutionary to how humans live their lives and unlocked huge amounts of productivity and human capital, whereas the inventions after 1970 are just incremental improvements. he uses examples like the "networked home" with gas, power, and water; germ theory of disease that improved life spans; automobile which unlocked travel for rural Americans in a time when most Americans lived on farms, etc. basically the argument you are making. if you lived from 1900-1926 and you home was "networked" that was a transformative improvement to your life vs the cell phone. it also unlocked huge economic growth relative to today.
