Walt was a founder/original member (sax, flute and other woodwinds) and started pre-cursors of the band with drummer Danny Seraphine and guitarist Terry Kath. He had a vision of a rock band driven by a horn section and recruited James Pankow (trombone) and Lee Loughnane (trumpet), the only original still performing. He/they then got Peter Cetera and Robert Lamm and the rest was history.
Good guy and great musician. He will be missed.
