if a dog doesn’t bark at strangers approaching the house, or it gets too old to hunt, it’s basically useless to many. Hence the phrase, “that dog don’t hunt”

Now, this was a terrier and not a hunting dog, but when a dog bites 2 family members in the face, including the alpha human, and is 12, a reasonable option is to put it down.

Say what you want about the method, but I’m sure it was as painless as lethal injection
