Dog experts: our friends’ dog, a small terrier, recently adopted aggressive tendencies

the dog is 12. They took it to the vet to see if there was some physical reason for the aggressive behavior. The vet said no, just that that the dog is older.

Well, within the past month, the dog has bit the owner’s elderly mom in the face and bit the owner in the face. They made the decision to take the dog to the owner’s East Texas ranch and take the dog for a final long walk in the woods and handle the situation.

Is there anything else they could have done? I guess a muzzle for times other than feeding, but that seems cruel.

They probably did the right thing, right?

My terrier has chilled out a lot by taking Prozac every day.

Their vet kinda sucks if that’s the only answer they gave them. The dog is probably in some sort of pain or has developed some sort of anxiety. They had other options.

if a dog doesn’t bark at strangers approaching the house, or it gets too old to hunt, it’s basically useless to many. Hence the phrase, “that dog don’t hunt”

Now, this was a terrier and not a hunting dog, but when a dog bites 2 family members in the face, including the alpha human, and is 12, a reasonable option is to put it down.

Say what you want about the method, but I’m sure it was as painless as lethal injection

Wanting a dog to bark *inside* your own home strikes me as commitable.

My friend had to put down a dog for behavioral issues so it’s not shocking
