I think Martin Short is pretty over-rated. Chevy Chase at least made Fletch and Caddyshack which were both great, even if the rest of his output was mediocre. (And yes, I’m including the Vacation movies.) Martin Short was an average SNL cast member for his time who somehow has a reputation as a great comic figure. He’s also insufferable to listen to in interviews.

Steve Martin, by contrast, is a legit national treasure.
