December 21, 2006: Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban makes his infamous statement, "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach." Two weeks later, he was introduced as the new head coach of the Crimson Tide. During his two seasons as Dolphins head coach, Saban was 15-17 with no playoff appearances. His decision to leave Miami would cause a huge seismic shift on the NFL and college football landscape. Seventeen years later, the Dolphins have gone through 6 different head coaches with only 4 playoff appearances and zero postseason victories. Meanwhile, Saban would lead Alabama to 6 national championships. His last title came at Hard Rock Stadium.
