I don’t think they have near the personality data on students to make the call Archived Message

Oberlin and the naval academy both recruit nationally I assume. What they know is that he took the PSAT, and possibly his score. You catch a small percentage of students’ eyes who end up coming for a visit, seems like a win for the school. One enrollment of $50k probably pays for the whole mailer. Previous Message The naval Academy is kind of an outlier too. Both are great academic institutions, but he would have no interest in going to either. Most of the ones he’s gotten so far are large southeastern schools with decent engineering programs. Auburn, Clemson, Florida and the like. The remarkable thing about Oberlin and the Naval Academy is why did these two schools decide to send it to him. A student interested in one is almost certainly not interested in the other. Previous Message But I’m amazed that there’s enough return on these mass spam mailings to be worth it. Sprout is getting one or two a week now as well, from totally random colleges he’s never going to apply to. Previous Message the US Naval Academy. Yesterday one came from Oberlin College. The Venn diagram of those two prospective student bodies must be two unconnected circles
