I think one thing civilians tend to get hung up on is they’ll see a B1 can fly at X speed at Y elevation and a Russian/Chinese/etc SAM flies at X speed and at Y elevation, with Z range, and therefore the B1 is obsolete. But that’s not how America fights. There are things we can do with other platforms and munitions and Electronic Warfare (EW) that dis-integrates an enemy Integrated Air Defense System (IADS). These platforms, munitions, and EW allows other aircraft, like a B1, AC130, AH64, Grey Eagle/Predator/Reaper to fly in contested airspace.
