This ambiguity is often exploited in internet memes such as "8÷2(2+2)", for which there are two conflicting interpretations: 8÷[2(2+2)] = 1 and [8÷2](2+2) = 16. The expression "6÷2(1+2)" also gained notoriety in the exact same manner, with the two interpretations resulting in the answers 1 and 9.
