The NHL US only national TV contracts are worth $4.3 billion. That doesn't include all the regional contracts that teams have. The MLS total contract is worth $2.5 billion. They have no regional contracts. Canada is a country of 40 million people. The vast majority of NHL revenue comes from the United States. If MLS is that much more popular than the NHL they should blow by the NHL in TV contracts (they signed their current contract AFTER the NHL signed theirs). The average NHL franchise value is twice the average MLS franchise value.
