Previous Message setting up audio equipment and they grasp the microphone full on with the palm of their hand without testing it first with the back of their hand to see if it's live! It had never even occurred to me until Mark taught us... if it's wired wrong, and it's electrified, if you grab it with your hand like that you're going to get the shock of your life. The electricity will cause your muscles to contract and grasp the microphone even harder, and you'll be unable to let go. Always touch it with the back of your hand, so that when the muscles contract, your fingers curl in away from the microphone! It was probably common knowledge to everyone else, but it was a real eye-opening lightbulb moment for me that has stuck with me ever since.
