Previous Message For one, on any given night we can play with just about anybody because we have MASSIVELY improved on the defensive end in a short amount of time. It shouldn’t be this way based on personnel but I feel like this team has somehow already become better than the vastly underperforming defense we had last year. But we also saw that with a home court worth several points, a generally favorable whistle, and probably a C- type of performance from Tennessee, we still weren’t good enough to beat them. So it does feel like this team as currently assembled has a bit of ceiling. And the guy that can elevate that ceiling is Will Riley. I don’t know if it happens this year because I’m just not quite sure if he’s ready to be this kind of player yet, but he’s the only guy on the roster who in theory has the talent to be a secondary scorer along with KJ. Without that second scorer we probably are just a borderline top 25 team with upside to make a run if we get the right matchups, but if he can elevate to another level than the ceiling is much higher.
