This has been coming for about 2 years. ESPN wanted out of the national games but still wants the regional games to launch their new streaming platform. The regional games are the value with MLB. MLB has many streaming suitors for their regional games and they’ll probably throw the national games/playoffs on top. A lot of teams have their deals coming up after the season and more may decide to partner with MLB. We’ll see what happens. ESPN isn’t out of the discussions yet either.
