My wife inherited a collection of papers that belonged to a relative of hers who was a prominent attorney in Chicago in the first half of the 20th century. We donated a stack of correspondence between him and Adlai E. Stevenson to their collection of his papers at Princeton. The other stuff is one-off correspondence but includes luminaries of the time such as Carl Sandburg, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, and Albert Einstein.

Thoughts on reputable places to have these appraised, authenticated and preserved? We have been looking around but a lot are auction houses that are only interested if you want to sell the stuff. I'm already aware of sports-related ones like Beckett and PSA as I have used them for sports collectibles.
