sure. and if the chargers were at rest stops or just off the highway, it would make things easier Archived Message

now with the current speeds. between ann arbor and Chicago, the reliable charging stations can be 10 minutes from the highway. so instead of 20-30 minutes, the charge adds 40-50 minutes to the drive. Previous Message If you shorten the charge time, then the same number of chargers can serve more cars. If it took 30 minutes to fill up your gas tank, there would need to be 10 times as many gas pumps to handle the demand. Previous Message simply improving the charger output? solid state is still a ways away from scalable, last I read about it. faster charger output increases risk to battery life with current materials used. with no mention of how, it's just propaganda. maybe a little accelerant to keep shaking tesla stock price. also, as a non-tesla ev owner, the issue isn't charge time (although a if the match e was opened up to take 500kw, I would like it). the issue is access/availability. i can budget 30 minutes every three hours on a road trip if I can count on an open and working charger right at an exit. but for now, road trips require alternate routes or going a couple of miles off the highway to find stations. that's the pain point. and it has not improved much...at least until the tesla adapter shipped last month. but, it's too late, IMO. I'm not using it for convenience when the company reaping the benefit (not by my charge $ but by the adoption of the charger as the standard) is essentially what ford was prior to ww2.
