from a pressure standpoint, i don't know that they need to validate their faith. neither getz nor the team have any pressure on them at the moment (not saying its right, just saying). so if anything, just letting him have a full minor league season with next spring being a fish or cut bait moment makes more sense. but of course, this org generally does the wrong thing.
