Instead of releasing it a year after, as they’d done between Ep. 7, Rogue One, and Ep. 8, they released it 6 months later. And since TLJ was such a shit sandwich it was easy for Solo to get shit by extension
Personally I also felt that it was a story that didn’t need telling. Not every character needs an origin story.
