Shapiro was attacked on Passover which is still ongoing. It is a holiday literally about Jews returning to their homeland in Israel. "Next year in Jerusalem" The trick of trying to parse between zionism and judaism when the two are intertwined to avoid charges of antisemitism is a bit ridiculous especially when regular everyday jews who are not out publicly espousing support for Israel are being harassed. And Israel is not close to the largest foreign lobbyist and AIPAC is made up of American Jewish donors which for a long time has been pretty much the base of the democratic party. There's a reason it's turning more right wing and it probably not gonna be good for dems since Jews have been their most reliable bloc. There is a huge outbreak of casual antisemitism at a minimum that has started to occur on the left like "it's jewish money that owns our government" and it never leads to good end result. |
