Some European thoughts, incorporating beach destinations Archived Message

My #1 recommendation is Barcelona. Yeah, it’s a man made beach. Who cares? Amazing city with a beach that’s walkable from the central area. For our trip, we also linked it with Seville, Grenada, Arcos, Ronda and Nerja (Costa Del Sol stop). I’d recommend skipping the Costa del Sol location, it felt all pretty soulless and filled with ex-pats. I imagine all those locations will be hot as balls in the summer, so watch out. You could pair Rome with Naples/Amalfi Coast or Rome with Cinque Terre. Maybe slip in a trip to Florence as well. Maybe an outside of the box thought is Interlaken in Switzerland. Tons of activities like canyoning, hiking, biking, canoeing, etc. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Lastly, Croatia is just amazing. You could spend time doing Dubrovnik/Split and maybe another Balkan country or two and then also do some of the Croatian islands. Previous Message Previous Message Go to Vancouver/Whistler. I imagine flights will be the cheapest you’ll ever find, given no one from Canada wants anything to do with the US. Go hiking, biking, kayaking, whitewater rafting, whale watching, etc. Previous Message Having trouble coming up with a vacation idea on where to go this summer. Leaning toward the Caribbean but as a rule we are not a family that likes to just sit on the beach. Sure a day or two is nice but if I am going somewhere I want to explore a bit and have something to do. Done Puerto Rico already otherwise that would probably be the likeliest choice and may just decide to go again. But looking for thoughts of Caribbean islands that have a lot to do other than go to whatever beach. Or any other out of the box thinking would also be welcome.
