I did not allow sports for 4-5 days until my unit got through our medical exams at our mobilization. I had a torn ACL, torn pectoral, blown out Achilles, badly broken finger requiring surgery, and a sports hernia requiring surgery that all required full evacuation through Germany back home. That was 1% of my unit. There were also quite a few that did not require evac, but were dinged up and less than 100%. I did not ban sports during our deployment, but you will take casualties due to it. This brigade may be going through a uniquely bad spell of injury luck. .

assuming that’s real. I remember at Naval Justice School using the example of Marines getting non-judicial punishment for getting so badly sunburned they missed key exercises. Rare but at the end of the day Uncle Sam is paying you to stay healthy not screw around with your body, and almost always there was an express order involved that was violated.
