It's not hard to see what's going on.

There was an optimistic White House announcement/articles about Trump's cholesterol being controlled by a combination of Rosuvastation and Ezitembe, and we can infer from that news that his LDL and triglycerides weren't being controlled by a statin alone.

I would not be shocked to learn that he was eschewing medical treatment/observation for the entire Biden presidency.

Our biologists and environmental scientists hate them for the impact they have on endangered species (both in terms of mortality but also substantial disruption to migratory patterns).

Our generation engineers hate them because they are unreliable (I don't mean in terms of being reliant on it being windy, but in terms of them not working properly even when windy).

I agree that they are less invasive on the land than solar.

You can't gloss over battery storage needs. Utility scale battery storage is lagging such that it isn't feasible to have public power being sourced primarily from renewables...yet. Plus its not like batteries are environmentally friendly in and of themselves. My company is very progressive relative to other utilities and is investing heavily in environmentally friendly generation and work practices...but there are barriers that clean energy proponents don't want to consider.

Again with the bird deaths, I don't know what data your environmental scientists are looking at

urban areas have urban problems. Crime, homelessness, and drug addiction are both very real things. I walked about a mile and a half to an outdoor concert last night and definitely saw some stuff I wish didn't exist. But the problem is that the Democrats want to just pretend that it's not and problem (and it is) and the Republicans want to scare the shit out of you and are quite convincingly telling people that your life is in constant danger the minute you step foot in Chicago or Portland. Therefore, the problem doesn't get solved, because neither side is really motivated to do so.

My understanding of the National Guard is that for a state, the governor can call up the NG for state matters. The President can call up the NG for federal emergencies or "missions".

So what happens when the NG is getting different orders from a governor as opposed to a President?

I'm thinking of the Little Rock 9 incident...Arkansas and the governor Orval Faubus used the Arkansas National Guard to prevent the kids from going in the school, then Eisenhower sent in the Army to enforce Brown vs. Board.

So would the same thing happen in Chicago? Could Pritzger mobilize the Illinois National Guard, and then Trump sends in a military branch like the Army or Marines?

State active duty means paid for by the state and take orders from
the governor. Title 32 comes from the U.S. code and means federal government pays but governor still directs. It’s supposed to be used for training to ensure the guard is ready for federal missions but it’s used all the time for other things. Title 10 is the status named after federal code when president calls into federal duty. Directed by president and paid for by the federal government. See the case below where federal government is allowed to supersede state governor for federal activation. States are also allowed to have their own state defense forces, their own “guard” that have no federal connection. Many states have them. Texas uses them all the time for disaster relief and were fairly prominent during WW2.

Also since Katrina, guard or federal officers are allowed to be appointed as “dual status commanders” and can take orders from both a governor and president. Done with the idea that in disaster relief all military forces can be consolidated and led by unity of command. In practice it means a state national guard general is given temporary control of federal forces to align them with their state guard.
