We have a bunch of Ryobi stuff and have never had any problem.

Buying Dewalt for normal home use is like buying a zero turn mower for a quarter acre, or a Ford F-250 for commuting and weekend trips to Lowe’s. Hence the reason I have a sea of bright green/yellow cordless tools all over my house. I've been happy with them so far. My friend was moving to Japan and gave me DeWalt drill and impact driver combo bag with like 3 batteries. I already had the recip saw...so now I'm a DeWalt house. Home Depot had been running battery + tool combo deals for various manufacturers the last few years. I've gotten the Milwaukee route and a couple of years ago for $199 got: 1 - M18 Compact 1/4" Hex Impact Driver 2 - M18 18V 5 Amp rechargeable batteries 1 - Battery charger I use the impact driver for pretty much everything, tough there are other cordless drills. I just already have a Metabo (was Hitachi) drill. Last year I did the same deal but got the air compressor as my tool. 2 years ago, I got a kit with 1 battery, but the leaf blower and pole saw tools. Decent way to accumulate tools, batteries, and chargers.
