And regional jets don't suck nearly as much as they used to. We're almost exclusively CRJ 700's and 900's and the larger Embraer ERJs and E-Jets.

Never have to worry about 3 wide, and they pretty much all have some level of midrange upgrade from coach (like Comfort+) and First Class seating, so if you want a little more room you can get it.

Other than not having directs and a lesser choice of departure times, I love flying out of smaller airports. With TSA Prechceck, I can get to the airport 30 minutes before boarding starts, check a bag, and still have time to grab a beer on the way to the gate.

right, and honestly a large number of the CRJ and Embraers have been replaced by Boeing/Airbus

we have a lot of flights directly operated by the carrier (and not a regional airline) now. If I fly to Charlotte or Atlanta it's in a 737/A320 or something like that

Which is why I prefer to live near a major airport

There are fewer CRJ 200s flying those routes, so the planes are improving. *

PHX is solid for a larger city airport... homer pick, but I believe it.
OKC is very nice
Austin is solid
Cincinnati/Covington is great. One of my favorites... rental car on site, feels pretty modern.
Columbus/John Glenn was great until they moved rental cars offsite (small airports should be onsite)

Those that I hate with the fire of 1000 suns:
Denver... sheer location alone
IAH and Hobby... Houston says it all
San Antonio... what a dump... wow.
STL (Original terminal)... time for a refresh, to say the least.

Quick list... not necessarily comprehensive.

Yes, given all the empty space up there it should absolutely have been built 5-7 miles closer. But 37 minutes downtown feels competitive with most other major cities?

And the airport itself is nice, at least imo.

3 brand new united clubs, new renovated gate areas and signage in most of B and United’s half of A, a lot of new local food brands have opened up stalls at the airport, brand new security areas.

I assume you fly delta so it may be a little dated in that half of A, and there’s still construction in the main terminal, but I just find the airport to be solid.

but the new one downstairs is usually great (only had one day where the pre line was slower and longer than general).

Delta's remodel from 2-3 years ago is still holding up, and it's kind of what Alaska modeled theirs after. The rest of it just clogs up the walk to security, though.
