question about something dropped off at my house

So...I got a "Petition to Revive Judgment" dropped off at my house (my mom was over at my place checking on things) and it's from something way back in 2011 from Calvary Portfolio Services.

I don't ever remember doing anything with them and research is they are a debt collector. Well, nothing shows up on my credit history as all my previous debts have been paid off.

It states nothing about where this came from, except that it is for $3099.70.

There is no other info on here. No court date or any contact information.

it's from the 11th Judicial Circuit Court in Logan County and the attorneys are from Schaumburg.

I would look up the phone number for the couRT (don't use the any phone number on the notice)

Call the court and see if they have anything on file with your name/casr number/whatever other identifying info from the notice. It may be a scam and they're hoping you call whatever number is on the notice and try to "settle it" by giving your credit card info

If you call the actual number and theres nothing on file...all good. If there is something on file you'll probably need to show up and prove it's not you they're after.

well it is a legit case. This is something from when I had my wages garnished for a debt

student loan. My tax refund was withheld as was part of my wages back in 2011-2014. I was given a letter stating that it was settled (of course I no longer have that letter as it was almost 15 freaking years ago!)

I really have nothing left to say that it is settled except that I got my tax refund the past few years as well as none of my wages have been garnished for a long while (and nothing is showing up on my credit score).

I think I'm gonna reach out to my mom's attorney to see what she thinks.

I also have a case date set for the 24th (but of course have received nothing in the mail for that nor have I ever received a bill or statement from Calvary or whomever they are trying to get money for)

Calvary probably bought the debt from whomever you had it with.

Since you said it was settled, the original loaner accepted less than 100% of what you owed. It sounds like they did not discharge the debt, so they could theoretically pursue the rest in the future - or sell it for a few bucks to a law firm that buys old debts to pursue the rest of the claims.

So definitely talk with the lawyer.
