I went to a 45th anniversary showing of An American Werewolf in London last night

The effects mostly hold up, since they were practical and Rick Baker did them. The only exception is the werewolf puppet, which everyone knew would suck, and is only shown in flashes.

Possibly one of the most abrupt endings in film history. John Landis was not at all interested in providing any explicit resolution to the secondary plot threads. David dies, Alex cries, cut to credits.

Brick Top was in this movie as a taxi driver. He didn't really look the same, and you barely see his face anyway, but I recognized him right away from the accent.

Jenny Agutter was a hammer and a half.

I saw that there's a Maverick's Helmet bucket for the Top Gun anniversary and a Power Sword drink thing for the He Man movie. are people really buying these for each movie that has them?

Kinda wonder if the theaters are making more cash on weeknight "nostalgia" shows than first run.

and at any given time, half of them are older movies that are either anniversary showings or fit a seasonal theme

I don't know if it's a great movie, but it's one I enjoy immensely and rewatch every few years*
