For $2M and early retirement, I think it's doable. Especially if you can still be in contact with each other (albeit not physically or even visually).

TWO MILLION DOLLARS AND EARLY RETIREMENT!! I could endure an awful lot for an incentive that would allow us to spend ever MORE time travelling together when it was over.

Lots of stuff going on these days, both at home and at work... but mainly just a constant back and forth from here to C-U, IL (this weekend will be 15 out of 21 weekends so far this year) helping my mother out and waiting for the inevitable passing of my father. So... fairly overwhelmingly busy in pretty much every area of life these days, and most of it not in a good way. C'est la vie.

1. Would be immediately able to retire after the year instead of working 9-10 more years.
2. We have two kids in college, so that would make things easier with only one kid at home.

I think if it was 10 years earlier when the kids were younger or 10 years later when I'm ten years older, I'd say no. But right now would be the sweet spot.
