The valuation is a joke.

The fact that Musk basically already has control of the shares he supposedly only receives if humans colonize Mars is absurd.

The indexes changing their rules to create liquidity at the behest of SpaceX insiders is borderline criminal.

Bezos was able to convince the market to keep it afloat for a decade before turning a profit. Elon had that same magic too. But both Amazon and Tesla operated outside the rules of business for many years before in Amazon’s case monopsony power took over. In that regard I respect Tesla more - they had a visionary product (which they’ve basically given up on).

Complimenting S&P and contrasting a passive S&P fund with other passive funds focused on NASDAQ or indexes with different rules. He mentioned that some of these big names may not be included for quite a while because S&P requires a profit (of a particular kind).

But I am glad that some index will let in these massive IPOs because they are too big to ignore. Passive investors need a way to participate in their market activity.
