Never been to the area so any suggestions?

To get by.

La Jolla area was nice but didn’t get to see much due to work. Gaslamp area was cool. Did the SEAL duck boat ride and walked around Seaport. Went to Coronado for a day, saw the Hotel Del and biked the island. Went to a Padres game, sat in the Agave club which included food, but no booze drinks. Spent four hours on the USS Midway yesterday…..wow. That was awesome and deep considering some of the exhibits they have on it.

Just got home and same suitcase lost again.

I liked the Pacific Beach era, some cool bar/restaurant spots along the beach

Pacific Beach Ale House
PB Shore Club
Baja Beach Cafe

Though I will say that after hanging out at PB Shore Club on a Thursday night and it seeming like a super chill/relaxed vibe, we went back on a Saturday night and it had become a place with metal detectors at the door with a more sketchy nightclub vibe to it. So that specific place might be a weeknight or weekend afternoon place.

When something is happening, young people like to say it’s “lit.”

Was just in La Jolla + SD. for La Jolla the seals and sea lions are neat to see

They are along the coast from Seal Rock, Children’s Pool to Browning Scripps park.

Food: Catania (Italian) was the best non Mexican we had, I’d go there if you want Italian

Taco Time and Taco Stand are the top tacos. Both were about the same.

il giardino di Lilli for coffee/pastries (more inland so no ocean views)

Beaches are WindanSea, La Jolla Shores and Blacks beach. I’d probably go to Windansea. Blacks is very nice but more of a trip and it’s also a nude beach if that matters. If you go there, go up to the Torrey Pines Gliderport and get a beer/drink while you watch people run off a cliff.

In SD, Nico fish market was the best (fish) taco I’ve ever had. Pacific Beach is nice and much busier than La Jolla area beaches. Balboa Park is cool for the museums and such.

Seal beach was cool. Balboa Park is pretty and has a wide variety of museums

Plenty of regular beaches to hang out on. USS Midway is a really neat ce museum if you are into that sort of thing.
