Re: Progressive regimes
This is profoundly silly. Some states are better than others, surely, even when viewed through the distorting optic of the SPGB. Actions that result in certain states getting better - abolishing torture, fighting racism, providing employment and housing - must surely be preferred to actions that do the opposite (legalising torture and racism, creating unemployment, increasing homelessness). The former actions ought accordingly to be praised, encouraged, and supported. Francis said earlier that the SPGB is a sect, but it also resembles our old friend ultra-leftism. Only the purest of socialism (yet to be occur, when enough people have listened to the SPGB or Gerry Healy) can be praised. All other states, parties and individuals are betrayals, as bad as one another. And in practice these attitudes play straight into the hands of the right, of imperialism, and monopoly capitalism. I hate what Starmer and his mates have done to the Labour Party, but I'd rather have them than the tories.
