But Steven - do any issues matter to you other than your pie-in-the-sky version of socialism? Because that is the real issue here. Normally, thinking people are interested in a variety of issues, both in their day-to-day lives and in the more distant future. And politically-active people will seek to work with others in order to achieve specific goals. Let us imagine a hypothetical situation: there is a proposal to close a public library near you. The library is popular with the community, a meeting-place, runs kids' reading groups and all that. You may even use it yourself. There is a campaign launched to oppose closure, involving the usual mix of community activists. Would you get involved? Or would you simply sneer that this sort of thing is inevitable under capitalism and nothing can be done until the working class worldwide votes for SPGB-style parties? I suspect you would take the latter course. Or am I misjudging you?
